Meta has announced plans to launch a stablecoin-based payment system across its flagship platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, in the second half of this year.
This will allow content creators to make cross-border payments, in-app purchases and user-to-user money transfers faster and with lower fees than traditional banking systems.
Furthermore, the company’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted that Meta is “coming late” to the competition compared to other platforms such as X and Telegram, and emphasized that their main goal is to introduce a flexible payment solution that covers the whole world.
