US, Israel launch missile strikes on Iran
The US and Israel launched missile strikes on several Iranian sites, including the capital Tehran, on Wednesday.
President Donald Trump described the strikes as a “major military action” and stressed that they were aimed at protecting the security and interests of the US and its allies. He also urged Iran to immediately agree to the nuclear deal.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also expressed a similar position, warning that more severe measures would be taken if necessary. Iran, however, has vowed to respond more forcefully to the attack and said it would not give in.
Global financial markets reacted quickly to the sudden development. Crypto markets fell sharply and stock markets are expected to open lower next week. On the contrary, gold and silver prices have started to rise sharply amid heightened geopolitical and economic uncertainty.
